Mathias Enard, 43, is the won the Goncourt Prize (Prix Goncourt) for novel : “Boussole”.
The french writer, succeeds Lydie Salvayre. who won the prestigious literary prize in 2014.
Enard studied Arabian and Persian and spent several years in the Middle East.
The subject of Boussole is the West’s love-hate relationship with Islam and the Arab world.
The Goncourt prize is attributed every years in November by a jury composed of ten writers in French language.
The characteristic of this prize, apart from the prestigious title, is the symbolic amount won by the author: ten euros.
