« I screwed up » Myriam El-Khomri said on Thursday after her interview on RMC and BFMTV. The French Minister of Employment didn’t manage to answer Jean Jacques Bourdin’s question about the CDD. A blow for François Hollande’s government.
CDD, the temporary work contract, can be renewed twice. A basic information which is on all social networks since yesterday. Myriam El Khomri, who was talking about the CDI, hasn’t been able to give this information to the animator and his auditors. Aware of this mistake, she has declared to her private circle « I screwed up.»
The reactions on the Internet are barely violent. Many are denouncing her « incompetence », others claim that she should resign and leave her post. A bad buzz for the government, and above all bad news for the« revolution » of the prime minister. Indeed, the mistake of the minister, which occurred on the same day as the presentation of the «work code » reform, appears like a bad publicity. It’s the credibility of the government which is affected.
However, Ms El-Khomri has also received support message, like the one of Emmanuel Macron, the minister of economy. For him, she just has to stay herself, this is what the French people are expecting. Let’s hope he is right.
