Valérie Pécresse creates controversy with her “drug-free school” plan

Valérie Pécresse, has created controversy this morning after having announced plans to introduce controls screenings of cannabis at the entrance of the 470 high schools of Parisian region.

In an interview with the newspaper “Le Parisien”, the head of the list of Nicolas Sarkozy’s party, drug use “results in demotivation, dropping out and academic failure”. Firm believer in “drug-free” high school, she wants to create an addiction referent to educate parents and students to physical and pschycological danger of narcotic consumption.She specifies that if a high school student refuses control, he or she will automatically be considered “positive”.A CCTV system would be set up and the presence of security forces reinforced in the vicinity of schools if the proportion of consumers is considered high by the regional authorities.
