219 of the 276 girls kidnapped two years ago by islamists of Boko Haram in Nigeria are still missing. The girls were kidnapped from their school and deported to an unknown place.
On Wednesday, CNN released an apparent proof of life video of fifteen of the girls, reportedly filmed last December. They wore flowing headscarves and stated their names. “We are all well,”said one of them.
56 students have succeeded to escape during the days following the snatching. They were then taken to an unknown place in order to protect them.
After their disappearance the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls has been one the most tweeted hashtags on social media and many events took place in the following weeks to protest for those girls.
Many times it was believed that some of them were used as kamikazes during terrorist attacks in Nigeria, but no identification could be done. It seems that some of them have been married or sold, but this information could not be verified .
“Their research and the fight against Boko Haram will continue” assured Nigerian government.
