Karim Benzema is not selected for the EURO 2016. On Wednesday, April 13th, Noël Graët, president of the French Federation of soccer ( FFF) announced in a press release, that the French striker will not participate in the Euro 2016, which will take place in France from June 10th till July 10th. Indicted since November, 2015 for “Complicity of attempt of blackmail” and “Participation in a criminal conspiracy” Benzema has been involved in the affair called “the blackmail of sextape”, against his team-mate Mathieu Valbuena.
In the columns of the French sports newspaper L’Equipe, in mid-March, Didier Deschamps affirmed he wanted “The best team and thus the best players”, while defending the “Presumption of innocence” of Karim Benzema. In line with the Real Madrid, his new coach, Zinédine Zidane, repeated several times that the Blues could not go without him for the Euro.
Even before the officiel announcement Karim Benzema stated on his Twitter account “Unfortunately for me and for all those who always supported me and supported. I shall not be selected for our Euro in France”.
