The Orangerie Museum is currently hosting an exhibition about the painting of the 1930’s. This exhibition takes place from October 12th 2016 to January 30th 2017. The museum is located in the “Jardin des Tuileries” next to “La place de la Concorde” in Paris.
For all of the world, Paris and France are symbols of culture and this particular case embodies the international culture which goes through time and centuries.
In the 1930’s, the US economic situation was very difficult because of the 1929 econcomic crisis and US artists represent the economic and social behaviour in their works.
A lot of famous artists are showcased at this exhibition like Marsden Hartley, Georgia O’Keeffe or Edward Hopper.
The Orangerie museum collaborated with a lot of museums and art collectors, like the MOMA (Museum of modern art) in New York or the Art institut of Chicago, in order to put together this exhibition..
