Quick reaction and consequences

Hundreds of people gathered in the city on Friday, after a quick diffusion of the video on the social networks. They were thousands to demonstrate all across the country (Casablanca, Marrakech, Tetouan…) after about 5.000 people attended his burial on Sunday.

Usually there’s no real contestations in Morocco so the king Mohammed VIth reacted quickly and by the voice of his first minister said he was « determined to establish the real circumstances of the drama » and would « punish the responsable »

Let’s recall that in 2011 some events took place in Marocco even if it has not been like in Tunisia, Egypt… for the Arab spring. So the government tries to take a distances from the events but stay strict.
