Strike continues at iTélé

Strikers voted on Monday to continue the fight against the management. To get more support, they will organize an event on Wednesday.

They were 82% voting yesterday to continue the strike. The workers for the French TV channel, Itélé, wanted, for the 23rd day in a row, the shelving of Jean-Marc Morandini. The TV host is actually indicted for “underage bribery”. By the way, the strikers claimed the signature of an ethic convention and a “clear and specific” editorial and strategic project.

For the moment, the only answer from the management was to offer a better departure conditions. For those who have been working at the channel for at least twelve years, the management propose to change from 24 months of allowance to “2 months paid for a month worked”. But it is not enough for the strikers who said on Arte TV channel: “The conflict is not only about economic and social questions, it’s about the fundamentals of journalists’ credibility – their independance.”

To gather more support, journalists organize on Wednesday an event at the Bus Palladium (Paris, 9th). They are expecting 3 ministers from the government and some deputies. They also get a lot of support on social networks with the hashtag #jesoutiensiTélé and with different people like Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, Benoît Hamon or Jean-Christophe Cambadélis.
