After a draw against Ivory Coast (0-0) yesterday at Lens’s Stade Bollaert, France misses its record of victory in the same calendar year.

The 26 previous friendly matches of the French team had all led to a victory for the Blues. This series ended yesterday. Indeed, after several missed chances during the 90 minutes of play, Euro 2016 runners-up France were held to 0-0 draw by African champions Ivory Coast.

After Friday’s victory against Sweden in a World Cup qualifier for 2018, French coach, Didier Deschamps made several changes. Four players made yesterday their debut under the colors of the French team : Benoît Costil, Adrien Rabiot, Sebastien Corchia et Thomas Lemar. The first two were even present on the pitch as soon as the match kicked off. This is the second time that French coach launched two newcomers with the Blues. Before them, Paul Pogba and Raphael Varane had the same honor. Wish them the same fate in the French team.

Furthermore, the Blues could not count on Antoine Griezmann. The leader of the tricolor attack, couldn’t play this match due to an injury. As early as Sunday morning, on the set of TV foot, the French coach was not very confident about Griezmann’s participation in this friendly dispute. Injured at the foot during the match against Sweden, Antoine Griezmann has finally declared forfeit. Yesterday evening, the best player of the Euro 2016 still wanted to reassure his fans by posting on social networks a lovely picture of him and his little girl Mia watching the match.

It will have enough time to recover. The next match of France will take place on March 25th against Luxembourg, for the qualifications of the World Cup 2018.
