There were 625,000 work sick leaves in 2015, against 621,000 in 2014, according to an annual report of the branch “working accident/professional diseases” unveiled on November 15 by France Inter.

Nowadays, the rate of accidents at work remains very low, putting into perspective the 34 work stoppages for 1,000 employees, with 120 out of 1,000 in the 1950s. It is now the personal services sector that suffers the most, with an average of 93 accidents for 1,000 employees. According to France Inter, 70 years of professional awareness have succeeded in the construction industry, while it would be “more difficult to raise awareness of the sector of services to the person”

The low back pains are increasing

Over 10 years, the number of sick leaves for low back pain increased from 13% to 19%. Here again, the personal care sector is particularly concerned, since during the same period, the number of low back pain has increased by more than 2,200 cases per year, whereas it decreased by 1,100 cases annually in the industry.
