Fillon is rising in the polls and is wining the public opinion. Yesterday, occured the third debate for the 2017 presidential primary race in France. Giscard d’Estaing, the French president from 1993 to 2002, gave his support to Fillon.
“François Fillon is serious and honest. He means what he says and he will do what he says,” said the former president to the French daily Le Figaro.
For months, Giscard d’Estaing gave advice to François Fillon. In 2010, he already announced his support to Fillon:
“He is one of the last men that France has in its reserve. We should have presidents in reserve, we need them,” said VGE in Public Sénat.
At the beginning, François Fillon was in the shadow of the two favorites for the primary race: Nicolas Sarkozy and Alain Juppé. Today, Fillon, former prime minister, between 2007 and 2012, can create the surprise in this primary race.
