NBA: The Sixers’s “Big Four” is already impressive!

Posted on

After Denver, the “Brand new Sixers” just won their second big game by taming the Los Angles Lakers at home (143-120) under the pulse of their starters Joel Embiid (37 pts) and the newcomer Tobias Harris (22pts). After their two big wins, Philadelphia seems to be ready to lead the East.

The Sixers adaptation phase is going well for Tobias Harris. He was traded from the Los Angeles Clippers last week before the trade deadline. He is already effective with 22 pts scored, 9 of 14 shooting for his second game with Philadelphia.

Harris was not the only one to shine against LeBron James (18 pts 10 rbs 9 ast). The Cameroonian Joel Embiid walked on the opposing paint the whole evening. He finished with 37 points, and missed just four shots during the game. The shooter J. J. Reddick added 21 points, Jimmy Butler 15 and Ben Simmons with just 8 points and 7 assists. The Australian player is the one who suffers the most (individually speaking) from Harris’s arrival.

A new team that can compete the best one

It’s maybe the best association in the East, if they can find a good alchemy among these four superstar players. They have perhaps a poorer dynamic than Milwaukee or Toronto. But the Sixers are the most promising team.

Philadelphia has good chance this year to go to the NBA Finals, with this new impressive team built during the trade period last week. They added new players calibrated to compete stronger teams, like Boston, Toronto or Milwaukee. Indeed Tobias Harris is a good shooter who can take the important decision and Boban Marjanovic, 7’3″ tall, is a good option to capture rebounds. Brett Brown the Sixers’s coach who has without a doubt the best center of the NBA, Joel Embiid, can compete his first NBA Finals this spring.

NBA: Bucks Cruise Past Warriors

Posted on

Source: Yahoo!Sports

On Thursday night, at Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California, the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Golden State Warriors 134-111.

The Bucks’ scoring was well balanced: Eric Bledsoe lead all scorers with 26 points, Giannis Antetokoumpo scored 24 and former Rookie of the Year, Malcolm Brogdon had 20. The Bucks shot 51% from the field and played tremendous defense all game long. They continue their surprising start to the season under new head coach Mike Budenholzer. They have won 9 out of their first 11 games and are second in the Eastern Conference behind the Toronto Raptors.

For the Warriors, Stephen Curry left the game with an abductor strain in the third quarter and did not return to the game.  Golden State had trouble taking care of the ball as they turned it over 18 times. Klay Thompson led them in scoring with 24 points. It is only the Warriors’s second loss of the season. They remain in first place in the Western Conference.

Golden State will play Brooklyn at home on Sunday and will look to bounce back from this loss. On Monday, The Bucks will play the red-hot Denver Nuggets who have also won 9 of 11 in what promises to be a marquee game.

It was the final match of a true legend. The future hall of famer has ended his superb career on an equally as good performance at the Staple Center, “his home”. At the age of 37, he indeed scored 60 points, achieving the highest scoring performance of the year. A huge symbol of his career, that will remain among the greatest of all time.

For his last game, it was all about Kobe, as the Laker’s team gave him nearly every possession, to have every chance to score as much as po
ssible. However, he had a quite good night shooting-wise, with 44% field goal percentage and 83% from the free throw line (which is even better considering the year he has had).

Finally, we can sum up this game as the dream finish for Kobe Bryant, who was the main attraction of the game, even if the Jazz was still in race f
or a play-off spot (they finished 9th, behind the Rockets). Kobe even dropped 5 points in the decisive moments (the last 50 seconds) to give LA the lead (97-96), which they kept for the rest of the game (101-96, final result). Clutch, as always.

Concerning the atmosphere in the Staples Center, it was the one he must have dreamed of. The fans, who paid an average $971 ticket to see this moment of basketball history, enjoyed one last time a game of the greatest Laker’s player of all times. Emotional scenes took place at the end of the game. And he is not going to miss only Laker’s fans.

Curry, another success this night at LA Clippers ?

Posted on Updated on

After the Larry O’Brien Championship, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of NBA last year, Stephen Curry chases his climb in the beginning of this new season. With more than 39 points per match, the Ohio native is ready for tonight, more precisely with the confrontation against the Clippers.

During the night of Wednesday to Thursday the American basketball will discover its first clash of the season: The LA Clippers receive the titleholder. Stephen Curry is at the top of his shape. The MVP of the last season has not forgotten his genius of the last six months. Furthermore, number 30 of the Golden State Warriors has amazing statistics with only four matches played. In particular, the master of the game marked 148 points for 127 played minutes. The statistics speak for him and the ranking too.

But the LA Clippers have a major opponent for the “Chief” Curry: it’s Blake Griffin who has marked 30 points per match. The two teams of the West Conference are ready to begin a new battle which will not define the rest of the season.

SPORTS: Can Anthony Davis become a NBA MVP (Most Valuable Player)?

Posted on Updated on

The 21-year-old forward of the New Orleans Pelicans Anthony Davis, is already considered as the third best NBA player behind Lebron James and Kevin Durant. It’s only his third season in the league but the 6-foot-10 forward is already averaging 20 points , 10 rebounds and 3 blocks per-game. In an interview for Slam Magazine, Kevin Durant, the 2014 MVP, said that Anthony Davis “is an MVP-calliber player”. Durant also texted Davis to tell him that he was on the “way to get it” (talking about the MVP award).

Moreover, the 2012 overall first pick in the NBA draft is still young and growing as a player but also as a man. This summer, he won the gold medal with Team USA at the World Cup in Spain. This is another experience for the young player which contributes to his personal development. The 2013-2014 NBA all star weekend also allowed him to progress and to play with the best player in the league. NBA stars like Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul or Paul Pierce gave him advise on his game. Since then, Anthony Davis seems to play a better basketball : he progressed in shooting, dribbling and also developed his ability to move the ball.

With the injury of Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis is in a good standing in the MVP race, facing players like Lebron James or Blake Griffin. However, the Pelican’s forward isn’t playing in one of the NBA top teams. This may be a problem for him if he wants to become the next NBA MVP. In fact, at the past 10 NBA season, the MVP always has been playing  in one of the four NBA teams in the league standings.

The return of LeBron James. An event that an entire city  had been waiting for since the announcement, on 11 July, the return of the chosen one. But the king James has missed his homecoming on all the plans : the Cavs were beaten at home against the Knicks (95-90) and James has produced one of the worst performances  of his career.

This is the first time in his entire career at the NBA that James loses more than eight balloons, marks less than 20 points and achieves less than five assists at a time.

Against him, Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks’s franchise player, scored 25 points and gave 6 assists, to lead his team to the victory. The number seven was helped by a good Iman Shumpert (12 points) and an interesting Shane Larkin at the organization of the “triangle game”, wanted by the president Phil Jackson.

Kevin Love who played his first match with cavs scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.  This match showed the birth of one of the futur big two of the NBA with Lebron James.

This evening the Cavs move to Chicago to face the team of Derrick Rose who won against New York (104-80) on Wednesday.

Tonight, the NBA takes over. Since the 15th of April, and the victory of the San Antonio Spurs over the Miami Heat, the National Basketball Association let us all the summer without games to look at. The pending was really long for the fans, but here we are.

LeBron James came back home to Cleveland – joined by Kevin Love – and the superstars Kobe Bryant and Derrick Rose are finally back after their big injuries. Tony Parker and Boris Diaw’s Spurs will try to win a back to back title, which would be the first in San Antonio’s history. Bulls, Clippers and Thunder are also big contenders for the Larry O’Brien trophy. There will be a lot of suspens during all the competition, and it begins tonight. Indeed, the Spurs are opening this 2014/2015 season against their rivals, the Dallas Mavericks, in Texas. After five months without the most famous basketball league in the world, we are now at few hours of the big game. Tic tac, tic tac…
